You know how once in awhile you go to a wedding that makes you go “wow”? Well, that’s me at every wedding because I’m easily amused, but that’s beside the point. We went to Min and Patt aka Mint Patty’s wedding 2 weekends ago, and it was simply a gorgeous wedding. They had it at the beautiful Deck House at Woolwich, it faces the bridge but just on the otherside, so you avoid all the city traffic – lovely!

My hair was like frizz to the max that day. Actually I think it got DESTROYED under the sun in Boracay. I’ve been feelsing like I have grass on my head FML. I tried my best to “style” it…whatever, I tried.

It was a super funny vow reading thingy bit because they both made some mistakes through the reading, including Min going “HUH?” to something the vow person (aiya, brain no worky) said, which cracked everyone up.

I really like how they displayed the table seating with this collage of printouts. It was really creative and yeah I loved it.

Too bad it was a Sunday and we couldn’t stay until the end. But it was a really awesome night LOVE the flower ZOMG.

I want a better excuse but I don’t got none. Alas, I must reveal my ultimate vice and admit to the world that, Hi everyone, I am a Bejeweled addict. SAD FACE.

It all started when I started playing Bejeweled on Facebook a few years ago. I was soooo addicted. I use to get NO sleep at night and go to work with zombie eyes for weeks. I played so much that when I closed my eyes I could see the jewels on the back of my eyelids LOL.

It took A LOT for me to realize it was getting too unhealthy, and I had to completely quit. Since then I’ve been sober for 2 years until……………………..for some stupid reason I thought I can handle playing Bejeweled on iPhone without getting addicted again. It’s freakin classic Alcohol Anonymous 101 to never touch the drug of choice for the rest. of. your. life. I’ve watched enough movies to know! But I thought I was above it.

Anyways this is ridiculous, I refuse to be medically diagnosed for being addicted to BEJEWELED. WTF please! I’m not THAT much of a loser! *Looks around uncomfortably*

Ok I am that much of a loser, because right now, its taking me A LOT to get away from my iPhone to type this post, so you know this be import’nt.

I’m going to talk about – Terra Nova.

What. Was the point to this show? Truthfully I only tried watching total 10 mins of it so I don’t really have the right to judge. But those “next episode” preview clips were SO BAD. This is a classic case of bad marketing. I remember watching one where it went something like:

*A family watching a baby dinosaur appear from hatched egg*

Daughter: Awwww…can we keep it??

Mom: *Turns to dad* Yeah can we?

Dad: *Smiles*

Is that suppose to make me want to watch the next episode??? People. PEOPLE! The only way to retify this is if the dinosaur baby started talking, or the dad ends it with “Oh no dear, but its for dinner tonight”. THEN I’d think about it. It might be a great show, but it didn’t make me feel curious about it at all.

So I’m really glad to see it off air. I use to rage when I see its commercial. Admittedly very briefly, but still raged.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new channel 10 show the New Girl. What a funny show! I can relate so much to the main girl. I love love LOVE her. Does that mean I love myself? Nevermind I dont want to think about it that way LOL. I really hope they don’t screw it up too soon, that’d be sad, I’d be sad.

Anyways………………………I have to play ONE round of Bejeweled………………….yeaaahhh……………just one……………………………….

One thing I came to really appreciate Korea of, is how much attention to detail they pay to everything. The intricacy in everything builds up to a bigger, more exciting, and unfathomably harmonious picture. Especially in Insadong, I felt like the term ‘vandalism’ wasn’t associated with the suburb’s many graffiti. There was no random scribble of words on the wall or childish markings of territory. The graffitis felt like real artworks, that people respected, and in return, the graffitis respected the city back.

We spent an entire afternoon at Insadong. And just like last time, I took a million photos just walking down the street:

There are A LOT of animal mascots in Korea. I feel bad for them if I saw them wearing the suits in summer, but in that weather I was one jealous tourist! Where can I buy them from??

Wtf can I not have one convo without a meme in there now?? I wonder if I can write an entire entry in meme…………..

GAWD. Thank god I got a bf before this happened.

Anyhow I digress. The mascots we saw in MyeongDong were a bit snobby, they didn’t really interact with anyone – or maybe I’m just spoiled by the friendly mascots in Disneyland? But this lonely squirrel was VERY friendly though. One look at my uncomfortable smile should tell the story.

It was a dark and stormy night as our heroine and her sidekicks trekked through Hongdae in search for food and shelter. A long day of shopping has tired all 3 warriors, and the conversation quickly turned onto this ancient tale. Her sidekicks, as they were both not fans of furry creatures, gasped in horror as our heroine excitedly retold the tale.

OOOOOOkkkkkkkk… Imma going to let that finish, but that was only fun for the first sentence, after that it was like *too much effort, brain explodes*.

Anyways in layman’s term, something amazing happened when I was in Korea. My boyfriend, his cousin and I were in Hongdae after a hard day of – I don’t remember what we did, but it’s safe to assume – shopping. It was getting dark and I was feeling tired when my thoughts started to wonder off, and I remembered reading on the webz about this magical cat cafe in Seoul. My boyfriend is a dog lover and his cousin doesn’t like cats, so I knew it would be fruitless to ask them. But just as I was telling them about it, I saw a glimpse of a sign:

I LITERALLY just finished telling them about it when I saw the sign. I swear my heart skipped a beat. Could it be……? COULD IT BE??

The place is called CheongChong Cat www.ycat.kr. It’s located in Hongdae, Seoul. I think it use to be called Gio Cat Cafe?  I’m not too sure because the interior structure looks exactly the same, especially that bookshelf area in the second last photo.

There were a lot of rules to get into this cat cafe. First you gotta pay the $$ (not that much) which includes a drink per person. Then you gotta change into slippers which they provide, then you gotta deposit your jacket and bags, then you gotta sanitize your hands, then there’s no flash photography… In short there were a lot of rules….a lot of reasonable rules….a lot of them.

I really appreciate my companions for going with me, because I can see the bore/occasional-horror in their eyes. There is absolutely no where to hide from cats in there. I’M NOT COMPLAINING hehe.

Boracay was awarded in the “Travelers’ Choice 2011″ by TripAdvisor as the second best beach in the world. Boracay made a debut appearance on the Top 10 Islands list in the Travel + Leisure travel magazine World’s Best Awards 2011, ranking fourth.

Boy, have I been spoilt? For the last 5 days. I’ve been lying on the beautiful beaches of Boracay, tanning and tanning into a slightly alarming, yet wonderful shade of Lobster lol. My body’s been fueled mostly by fried chicken and various mango/banana/papaya/pineapple blends. And I think I’ve stored enough Vitamin D for the rest of the year!

We stayed at the beautiful Nami Resort on Diniwid Beach in their Suite Ocean View room. I might blog more about the hotel later but for now all I can say is that its very different to your regular hotel, the staff is personable, customer service is A++, it’s quiet and secluded – I love love LOVE its private beach! It was exactly what I wanted for a resort holiday. Although Nami Resort‘s cliff-side structure meant there were a lot of stairs, I found no problem to it. As long as I’m mobile, I would definitely stay there again!

White Beach is the main tourist beach on Boracay.  They didn’t have to try very hard with the name of the beach because the sand was, well, white. Hence I suppose the name? I don’t know, Wikipedia might prove me wrong or whatever lol. It covered from what I saw, a good portion of the island, with miles and miles of white sand, and equal amount of clear, torque waters.

White beach was a short shuttle bus trip from Nami Resort for us. The resort provided free drop off and pick up shuttle services across the island which was awesome! Plus 2 points for the hotel. It’s pretty tame in the day time with your everyday old-men-in-speedos, painfully lobstered and charcoal colored chicks, local hustlers. But when the sun starts to go down, EVERYONE comes out, and the entire beach side turns into a massive party spot. Just look at the amount of people behind me in the last photo!

This is my first proper holiday in the last 2 years, it’s been so relaxing here I’m sad that the the last day finally came :’(
But I’m off to Boracay tomorrow!! Hope I can update more there!

Anyways I wasn’t going to do a 2011 review, but the first event this year unfortunately was a funeral, which gave me a need to reflect.

2011 was, in short, the best year of my life. Despite my cat passing away due to cancer, it was a comparatively drama-free year. I had a lot of time to focus on personal development which led me to some big break through. A couple of my accomplishments last year were 1) learning to drive and buying a car, and 2) stopped dieting, which I’ll talk a bit more on.

I’m like a lot of other girls who spent most of their lives dieting. I started dieting after gaining quite a bit of weight during my final year of High School, and I haven’t stopped since. At first I dieted to lose weight, then I dieted to keep that weight off. It has been a frustrating and time-consuming journey of self-control and denial. All the calories in and calories out was getting very tiring for me. Looking at all the skinny girls around who never dieted in their life, I knew I was doing the “being skinny” thing wrong – it shouldn’t have been that hard.

So at the beginning of last year, I decided to stop dieting. It didn’t really happen as decisively as that. It actually took about 2 months of wavering at the end of 2010 and another 2 month at the beginning of 2011 for me to say, you know what, I’m just going to give it a go. It took that long because although “theoretically” it sounded logical, I knew I was going to get fat, and no body likes the idea of KNOWING they are about to look ugly, so I can’t describe how difficult of a decision it was.

From then on I ate whatever I felt like. All the chocolates, fried foods, chips and lollies I wanted. At first the weight gain wasn’t noticeable, but by the second months none of my cloths could fit me properly anymore. I started off at 50 kg, and by the end of October I was at 58 kg. A weight gain of 8 kg, 5% gain in body fat.

During this time though, I stilled exercised regularly about 3 – 4 times a week doing a lot of weights, simply because I love to exercise and I’m just manly like that LOL. But I did not diet. I think my trainer gave up talking to me about it by the end hahahaha. I didn’t talk about it much, but there was no other way to describe it than it was a very difficult process. For 8 months I felt shit about myself, I hated looking in the mirror, didn’t feel like going out and meeting people, and I wore all my loose clothing because I refused to buy size 10′s haha. There were so many times when I wanted to give up and go back to dieting, I even visited my dietitian friend, but in the end I stuck to the plan.

HOWEVER. Gradually my appetite shifted. My taste buds got tired of the taste of artificial flavoring, and I started eating more and more healthily without noticing. In the last 2 months of the year my weight started to drop. By the Christmas break I lost 5 kgs (although I gained a kilo during Christmas).

There is no denying that a human body is a reflection of the mind. Although it’s still sometimes difficult, I’m finally learning to let go of the anxiety of body image issues. I’ve now realized that:

• The scale is the devil,
• I no longer buy any magazine,
• And I no longer go to any website that has one article talking about how much weight so and so has put on while another article urging you to diet with the latest dieting fads. This includes the Sydney Morning Herald, Nine MSN, etc.

They are all evil evil media outlets that exploits human weaknesses while looking like they are trying to help you.

So that was something that happened to me in 2011. There were other events that happened which I won’t talk about here. I just know that although doing what you’re used to might feel the most easy and comfortable, but it’s what’s unknown and scary that will make you grow – clichés are clichéd for a reason.

I’ve always been the planning type, the list maker, on everything especially the direction of my life even I know the future isn’t something I can predict. So for 2012, except for work related activities, I’ve decided to live it unplanned. Where this will bring me, I cannot fathom. There are bound to be times when the anxiety of an unplanned trip or event will back fire. But until I’ve lived at either of the spectrum, I can’t say what’s right for me.

I always hear people (sometimes even myself) complain that they are bored because they can’t afford to go travelling or do this and that. But new situations are what we make of it. I don’t need to go to India to find myself, I don’t need to climb Mount Everest for a challenge. You know what you do in your life better than anyone else, if you want to challenge your mind then you just have to do something different.

So I cannot lie, 2012? I’m EXCITED!

Dun dun dun, the long wait was over, my husband and his band, I mean the Foo Fighters came back after 4+ years. Was it raining, hellz yeah. Was I a short ass, ahuh. Did we wait for 3 hours before they came out? Yup. But was it awesomezilla? IT WAS FREAKIN’ AWESOMEZILLA!!

I went with Jamie my most favorite concert partner of all time. I love concerting with him because he’s seriously laid back, where as I spent the first 3 hours going “THERE ARE TALL PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME” glare glare glare LOL.

After all my previous hatin’, I’ve began to miss my DSLR. I still hate its stupid ass SIZE like wth. But I get so much control over my photos…which I miss sorely, especially when I realized all photos of Jamie with the digicam was blurry. How I do not know. #Fail.

The local opening act was Stonefield. I don’t really listen to the radio or watch music on tv, so I haven’t heard of them before. To be honest when they first came out I was pretty dismissive of them. They looked like 4 frail hippy girls whose instruments was way too big for them. But when they started playing they completely exceeded my expectations. The lead singer (also drummer WOA) had an amazingly strong voice, sounded beyond her age.

The next opening act was a Canadian band called Fucked Up. I couldn’t understand a single word the guy sang lol, but yeah…they are…memorable I guess. The lead singer took off his shirt and did all sorts of voodoo dances on stage before jumping off, walked right through the crowd and stood in front of me (lucky me I guess). Some guys who hugged him said the dude was all oily and stinky. No really?? HAHAH.

I couldn’t be bothered with my hair. Seriously it was rainy and I’m tired, so whatevez.

I looked much happier post concert. The crowd’s body heat made my face glow. Oh man, nothing clears your face like other people’s sweat. I best patent that shit, and put a colligen/anti-wrinkle spin on it. If I start blogging from my mansion by the beach next month, you know how I made it. Need to make sure my agent gets me on Oprah.

Sadly it was over after 4 epic hours, but I’m sure they’ll be back again. So until next time – take care my love, I’ll take care of our baby, just send child support HAHA.

I go through a cycle where I start of bored out of my mind, all I do is surf the web and watch TV, I feel like wtf I’m just waste my life/air. So I go around “enrichening” my life with everything under the sun, to a point where I forget minor detail like SLEEP and other nonsense. Then I’m surprised at how busy and tired I am and I’m like, god why, just let me surf the net and watch TV.

I love wearing my bear jacket out because it has the closest material to PJs, so when I wear it I feel like I am living AND sleeping at the same time. Who needs Lifehacker when I just cracked the secret to beating sleep deprivation? Lol.

Alternatively, I wish I have a secret twin, so we can take turns loitering and getting shit done. I love loitering. I also love sleeping at 2am and waking up at 2pm, I love wearing my robe and eating out of an ice cream bucket, I love…DARE I CONFESS? The feeling of clean skin after not showering for a few days. HAHAHA, am I joking? AM I?

Geez, gave myself a bad rep so early on in the post, who’s going to read the rest of it now…. Maybe I’ll bribe people with some photos of blurry food and me with pretty girls.

Yes so forget about the showering part. The season of birthday shenanigans continue, it was Tina’s bday at Subsolo on Saturday:

Ok so this is a blood sausage that was on of the skewers. I’ve never tried it before although I’ve been watching so many korean street food youtube vids lately that I “felt” like I’ve had it before. It was…great! Definitely getting myself a plate of those in Korea.

What I didn’t understand was that a couple of the other people didn’t even want to try it, when they are eating meat that is still BLEEDING blood, wtf I don’t understand rare steak yuck. I tried to eat some but my plate was quickly FILLED with blood and soaked all the other food on my plate. DEAR GOD its disgusting *puke face* I’ll stick to my cooked blood sausage thanks.

Alright I just want to say that Asians are the only race who can bring a taro flavored sponge cake to a spanish restaurant and make it look absolutely normal. Tina says “No birthday song please”, which is pretty much an invitation for us to sing the loudest birthday song ever. I love it when birthday people feel like they actually have a say on their birthdays

Then we wanted him to join in, so we asked this old man who claimed to be the “tree guard” to help us. I swear to god he was drunk but who could blame him if he had to look at a tree all day.

This deserves a wtf face.

I’m always like, “I’m not girly I’m not girly”, but I love makeup a bit too much to fulfill that statement. Since I started using Bobbi Brown I haven’t looked back, I’m now a full blown Bobbi Brown fan girl, and I dream of one day owning the entire collection. A dream that’s not good for my wallet!

So these are what I carry with me pretty much everyday. I know some people just do the mascara and lip balm thing because they do their makeup at home, but I go to the gym in the morning and I need to bring a variety of things to make my face recognizable:

1 – Bobbi Brown Pastel Eye Shadow Pallette.
I bought this on the plane last year out of sheer boredom, but its become one of my most used pallettes. I have a new pallette coming very soon though!

2 – BB eyeliner brush.
It’s a great brush, but I really wish they sell the short version of this brush because its so unneccessarily long it doesn’t fit into most makeup bags.

3 – Waterproof mascara.
I’m not fussed with mascara as long as they are waterproof. I always get whatever waterproof mascara that’s on sale because I’m lucky to have relatively long lashes for an asian, so volumn/thickness whatever marketing jargons doesn’t work on me. All I know is from experience, regular mascaras weigh my lashes down too much and they smudge easily, whereas waterproof are lighter and doesn’t smudge!

4 – Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 in 3.25 Cool Beige
The BEST freaken foundation ever invented. I have normal skin and obviously asian colored (haha), and this foundation suits my skin sooo well. I don’t wear a lot of foundation because I have a lot of freckles, thick foundation looks like a mask on my face. If I ever need to cover my entire face, I only put on a very thin layer of it.

This also doubles as a concealer. I rarely get pimple but I do have age spots. Don’t ask cause I have no idea why. I usually do a bit of layering with this to conceal certain areas as well as under my eyes. On a daily basis I just put a bit under my eyes to conceal dark circles.

5 – Eyelash curler

6 & 7 – Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Sepia Ink and Black
I usually bring 2 with me because Sepia Ink(brown) is much more natural than the black, so it really depends on my mood.

8 – Lip balm

I actually just received my new BB haul. Can’t wait to try out the colors!!
